Abstract

Poverty
According to the authors Willem and Daniel, averagely, psychological variables in most occasions tend to be different statistically within individuals living within poverty in comparison to the people who live in affluence. The academic response that is default to this sequence is mainly considered to be the deficit model. Poverty plays a role in impairing as well as damaging the function of the brain, which results into a performance that is poor that ends up exacerbating the said poverty. Damage in addition to deficits are considered to be actual phenomena. Nevertheless, there happens to be other additional processes. In that the individuals who live in poverty, might have ended up making psychological responses that are reasonable to their own situations or might have as well developed strengths that help in improving their capacity to cope with different challenges in their lives. In this particular article this is points are basically illustrated through a discussion of the examples that are linked in relation to early reproduction, talents that are hidden as well as time preference. The argument is for an approach that is balanced to the poverty psychology that tends to integrate deficit in addition to models that are strengths-based. In addition, the research that is carried out in future is capable of focusing on the manner in which the adaptation as well as the impairment get to interact.
Factors of poverty:
Firstly, poverty may be caused by a conflict in a variety of ways. Large-scale, persistent violence may bring society to a standstill, ruin infrastructure, and force people to escape, compelling families to sell or leave behind all of their possessions. In Syria, over 70% of the total population currently lives below the poverty line, in a region where extreme poverty was formerly uncommon. Women typically suffer the burden of war; female-headed families become particularly common during times of conflict. Women’s families are especially susceptible since they frequently struggle to find well-paying jobs and are frequently excluded from communal decision-making. However, even small acts of violence can have far-reaching consequences in already troubled communities. Farmers, for example, will not invest in planting if they are concerned about their harvests being stolen. Women are especially susceptible to these types of confrontations since they are frequently targeted when collecting water or working alone in the fields. And according to Borgen Project researcher DillisWilliams, “the poorest nations in the world are those that have endured civil wars and political turbulence, all of which have weak governments that cannot protect their inhabitants from violence”. Also, another poverty factor is poor education. Not everyone who lacks an education lives in abject poverty. However, the vast majority of the really poor are illiterate. Andwhy is this the case? There are several obstacles that prevent young people from attending school. Many families are unable to afford to send their children to school, and so require them to work. More people still do not recognize the value of educating girls. Education is frequently referred to as the great equalizer since it may provide access to employment as well as other knowledge and capabilities that a family requires to not just survive but prosper. According to UNESCO, 171 million people might be brought out of severe poverty if they graduated from high school with basic reading abilities. And, with greater education, global poverty may be eliminated in half. Furthermore, climate change is considered as a factor of poverty as the World Bank claims that climate change would push 100 million people into severe poverty over the next ten years, as natural catastrophes such as droughts, floods, and storms wreak havoc on poor communities. This is especially true given that the majority of the world’s poor rely on agriculture, fishing, and gathering to feed and make a livelihood. They generally only have enough food for one season, and they lack the essential material reserves in the case of a natural calamity. Millions of people lose their food stores and become impoverished as a result of adverse climate shifts, making it difficult for them to regain their prior level of sufficiency. Moreover, inadequate access to clean water and nutritious food is another factor. Currently, more than two billion people do not have access to safe drinking water at home, and over 800 million are hungry. You would imagine that poverty causes hunger and makes it difficult for people to get clean water, yet hunger and water shortages are also major reasons why people suffer to escape extreme poverty. If a person does not eat enough, they do not have the power and energy to work. Inadequate access to food and clean water can also result in avoidable diseases such as diarrhea. When individuals have to travel long distances to clinics or spend what little money they have left on medicine, it depletes already vulnerable members of society of money and assets, and can push a household from poverty into severe poverty. Even if clean water sources are available, they are often located far from poor, rural communities. This means that women and girls collectively spend some 200 million hours every day walking long distances to fetch water. That’s precious time that could be used working or getting an education to help secure a job later in life.
Effects of poverty.
Secondly, poverty effects human and societies. It is a scourge that spreads among societies and individuals. It may lead to problems in the society of diseases, malnutrition, ignorance and murder, which may increase with the increase in poverty. Poverty has a great impact on the individual in terms of nutrition, health, education and housing. It brings diseases and severe thinness that leads to death. As the poor suffer greatly from the lack of food, and if food is found, it is very little or unhealthy. In addition to the lack of health care for the poor, as when they are sick, they do not have the ability to go to the hospital or to Buying medicines, which makes their health condition worsen. We see many poor people homeless in the streets because they do not have a home to accommodate them, so the poor live on the street, which results in theft. Therefore, poverty has an impact on the low level of education for individuals. Poverty has a negative impact on children than on adults. Health and nutrition are one of the most important aspects that affect the child and his life. When compared to non-poor children, poor children have a higher rate of low birth weight. These circumstances have been linked to poorer IQ and other cognitive performance measures in young children, and in the case of low birth weight, it may lead to greater rates of learning difficulties, affecting the educational aspect of the poor. (Brooks-Gunn & Duncan, 1997)
Poverty has many negative effects on society, as a society that has a high poverty rate finds
an increase in ignorance, murder and diseases. Poverty may lead to disintegration in society
and problems between individuals, which makes society in which tensions increase. This
happens when there is inequality between members of society in income. And that there is
discrimination between individuals. Countries that maintain equality among their members in
income find that they are stable countries and there are no problems in them. Because if
poverty increases, it turns into a danger to individuals and societies.

Solutions for poverty:
First and foremost, it is critical to comprehend the basic causes of poverty. There will never be a single answer for the solution because different countries have different causes of poverty. The first solution to prevent poverty is by Raising awareness. Sometimes some societies face many problems in having poverty because of the problems of taking drug and alcohol abuse, lack of child care, violence, and poor education. Here lies the role of social workers in educating people on how to avoid these problems, and finding ways to solve problems. Another way to prevent poverty by raising awareness is by social media. For example, knowing that social media has become an inextricable aspect of daily life, it’s time to turn it into a force for good. Sharing links on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms will help people learn more about global poverty and raise awareness of the issue. The second solution for preventing poverty is Community solidarity. Community solidarity is very important in preventing poverty. For instance, to combat the problem of poverty, all members of society must work together. That is done by making donations at various locations to collect monies and redistribute them to those in need. As a result, poverty’s consequences will fade away, and no one will be deprived of the necessities of life. This will also help to realize the magnificent goal of providing clothing and food to every poor person. As a result, we discover that the solidarity of a single civilization is sufficient to eliminate the phenomena that plague it. the third solution for preventing poverty is to make a financial donation. Donation is one of the easiest and most popular ways to help the poor and needy. You can donate money, food, clothes, toys, old furniture, and books and hand them over to approved charities or humanitarian organizations that are known for their ongoing assistance to those in need. With the spread of modern methods of communication, many organizations have developed applications to facilitate receiving the aid of benefactors by donating money directly through the application. Donations can assist in a variety of ways. They don’t have to be in the form of money all of the time. This might be as simple as donating books to a disadvantaged child or purchasing groceries for a poor household for a week to aid in the fight against hunger. Donating old clothes, furniture, and toiletries can also aid in the improvement of the poor’s well-being.
